The profound metamorphosis accepted in the previous rune brings a new understanding that reveals how our Destiny becomes a spiritual metamorphosis, illuminating our path by revealing the inner light.
The glyph is unambiguous: a bolt of lightning streaks across the sky.
A lightning bolt is a massive electrical discharge resulting from a huge potential difference between positively and negatively charged areas. Here, the polarity inherent in the two energy forces of Heaven and Earth generates lightning: Fire, heat, and light, as they inter , feeding off the darkness of Ice, there is fusion. The inner impulse is Fire, the discharge that travels through the filament of Ice, our Nature bringing it to incandescence.
Following the ascending invocation and descending receptivity of the previous rune, there is a response in the form of a radiant energy flow. The Reed becomes a resplendent plant because the energies of Heaven and Earth, set in motion and combined in Elhaz, produce a radiance. The finely tuned antenna vibrates and receives: the sky has answered. We can thus understand how essential it was that in the previous rune, the Force that flows through us encounter no obstacles, no aggregates that would impede it and could create a dangerous stasis.
If the first Aett ended with Fire and enthusiasm, Wunjo, daughter of Fire (Kenaz) and of the Gift (Gebo), here comes the light. The journey through this second Aett was difficult because, to produce this light, it was essential that all parts of our being merge.
An important milestone has been reached: the Force has descended into form, illuminating it, revealing it to itself, following the trials endured in this Aett in the confrontation with chaos, destiny, the shadow, and the mysterious part of ourselves.
Just as the first Aett ended with an enthusiasm born of our awareness of the Presence within us, here we cannot “hide the light under a bushel.” While Elhaz taught us that all divine force merely passes through us, we must now allow this light to radiate, avoiding any inclination to claim it as our own.
Thanks to this acquired humility, we can guard against the hubris that lies in wait for every solar hero. While the enthusiasm that marked the first Aett was not excessive Joy, here everything we have experienced in this second Aett is expressed outwardly: we have become participants in the Divine plan, and the light given to us here prepares us for the final metamorphosis that will be the focus of the third Aett.
